An Aking Agta Na Ibinahog
An Saiyang Mga Muro

Tinilad kan aking Agta an saiyang mga muro
tanganing saru-sarung ipambahog
sa uwak na mawot niyang madakop.

Kan guminaro na ini huli sa labi-
labing kabasugan, kinugos niya tulos
an bagong ataman, dinangdang
sa saiyang daghan. Ipapaara niya
ini sa kinaban—

Taud-taud may nakasabatan siyang gurang
na kolor talaud an buhok, na tulos naghapot:
“Anong nangyari sa saimong kamot?”

Itinuga kan aki na kinakan na ini
kan saiyang bagong ataman: “Baku man makulog.
Dai ngani nagdugo.”

Ini an patanid kan gurang: “Kakaipuhan mong
bahugon an ataman na iyan, kan saimong mata.
Pagkatapos nin tulong bulan, hahagadon
kaini an saimong tulak, dangan an apdo.”
“Pigpapatakot mo lamang ako,”
simbag kan aking Agta.

“Mas orog na makinakan
an takot na inaataman.”

*

Nagpupuon nang magsiyap an uwak
asin nararakdag an pirang balukag
kan sunod niyang makasabatan
an sarung aking Unat na dai man na kamot.
Hinapot niya ini: “Hain an saimong gamgam?”

“May gurang akong nakasabatan asin kinakan
an sakuyang gamgam. Habo ko kutang itao
kayâ lang riribayan niya daa nin bagong puso.”

“Ta na pa’no an saimong puso?
Anong hayop an binahog mo kaini?”
Hapot kan aking Agta.

“Kan buminatluy ako sa pinapangalad
na danaw kun sain naglalayog papuli an gabos
tang gamgam pati an iba pang kalag
kan gabos na nagadan sa satuyang pangataman—
Duman sa aagihan mo pag-abot mo sa puro
nawara na sana bigla an dati kong puso. Nahulog

Kinakan kan hayop na duwa an payo:
an mayong pakilabot,
an mayong pagkatakot.”

agad itong nagtanong:
“Napa’no ang iyong mga kamay?”

Inamin niyang kinain na ito
ng bagong alaga: “Hindi naman masakit.
Dahil hindi dumugo.”

Nagbabala ang matanda: “Kakailanganin mong
pakainin ang alaga ng iyong sariling mata.
Pagkalipas ng tatlong buwan, hihilingin nito
ang iyong tiyan, kasunod ang iyong apdo.”
“Tinatakot mo lang ako,”
tugon ng batang Agta.

“Mas masidhi ang gutom
ng inaalagaang takot.”

*

“May nakasalubong akong matanda at kinain
ang tangan kong ibon. Ibig ko sanang tumanggi
ngunit may bagong puso raw siyang ipanghalili.”
