kalabanan bayi ang paglantaw sa bulan
ayhan bangud sa ana’ng pagpanghuram
ka ana’ng kasanag nga mabugnaw
halin sa mainit nga adlaw,

Kato’ng ugsad ka baynti-uno it Disyembre
harus bilog nga kalibutan nakasaksi:
ang ugsad ginlamon ka bakunawa
nga suno sa mga mal-am kauna
may signos ukon patimaan nga ginadara
ayhan inaway, linog, ukon katawhay;
pero wara’t bakunawa kundi eklipse
paathag ka mga mangin-aramun
sa astronomiya;
Makawiwili ang mga datos ka siyensya
nga dugang nagasuporta
sa paglantaw nga bayi ang bulan:
ang eklipse ka bulan kuno
amat-amat nga nagakatabo
sa pagkakuri, nagalawid it inoras
samtang ang eklipse ka adlaw
minutos lang ang kadasigun
kag tapus run dayon;
Ang akun lang masugpon
kang ako nagpulaw sa pagtangra
sa ugsad nga nagaamat-amat ka pula:
bayi gid man ang bulan
bangud akun nasaksihan
ang ana’ng tumalagsahun

(Pinasahi ang total lunar eclipse kang Disyembre 21, 2010 bangud natuon sa solstice, nahauna nga adlaw kang winter ukon tagraramig sa Norte nga kapihak ka kalibutan samtang sa Sur nga kapihak, nahauna nga adlaw ka tag-irinit ukon summer. Ang pinakaurihi nga pagtabuay ka solstice kag lunar eclipse kato pa kang 1638, tuig nga napreso sa ana’ng balay si Galileo Galilei, ang nahauna nga mangin-aramun sa astronomiya nga nag-usar ka teleskopyo sa pagtuon ka bulan kag planeta, Jupiter. Si Galileo mabakud nga nagsuporta kang heliocentric nga teoriya ni Copernicus, nga ang adlaw, bukut ang atun planeta amo ang sentro kang kalibutan. Baliskad dya sa geocentric nga pagpati kato nga panahon, nga ang atun planeta amo ang sentro. The Moon is indeed a Woman
In myths and songs
the moon is usually shown as female
perhaps because she borrows
her dazzling cool light
from the fiery sun,
often viewed as male;
Last full moon of December twenty-first
most of the world must have seen:
the moon being swallowed by the sky dragon
that in the old days, according to the elders
signaled an omen
perhaps war, earthquake or calm
but there is no sky dragon but an eclipse
the learned astronomers explain;
Science offers some intriguing facts
that further supports the notion
that the moon is female:
it says the lunar eclipse transpires
at a very slow pace
so slow it lasts for hours
while the eclipse of the sun
happens swiftly, only in minutes
and it is over;
All I can say
as I stayed up late to watch
the full moon slowly turn coppery-red:
indeed the moon is female
for I just witnessed her
most unusual menstrual bleeding.

(The total lunar eclipse last December 21, 2010 was very significant because it occurred on a solstice, the first day of winter in the Northern hemisphere while it is the first day of summer in the Southern hemisphere. The last time this confluence or meeting of the lunar eclipse and the solstice happened in 1638, the year when Galileo Galilei, the first astronomer who used the telescope to study the moon and the planet Jupiter, was under house arrest. Galileo was a strong supporter of the heliocentric theory of Copernicus, that the sun, and not our planet was at the center of the universe. This was the opposite of the popular geocentric belief at that time, that our planet was at the center. The next meeting of the lunar eclipse and solstice will be in the year 2094 or not in another 84 more years.)
