Karong Adlawa

Karong adlawa buot unta nakong suroyon
Ang kahumayan kuyog nimo
Samtang galurat ang adlaw,
Masinahon sa kahayag sa atong mga nawong.
Apan kilomkilom na.
Tana, magkuyog nalang ta
Ngadto sa naglaray nga akasya
Ug gunitan ko ang imong kamot.
Pasagdan nato mangigi ang mga engkanto.
Kay mututok gyud sila sa atong katahum,
Ang katahum sa duha ka tawo
Nga wala na’y ugma.

Today

The sky is clear but the crickets sing
Like there is impending rain
And the trees shiver
Like I do every time we touch
The barest hint of each other’s bodies.
You remind me of the wind
Sighing through the trees
Singing songs that even
The distant stars could hear
I want to cover you with kisses
Until the sadness goes away,
Scatter it like wilted leaves
When a breeze comes to visit.

I would’ve wanted to walk
The rice fields with you today
While the sun looked on
Envious at our radiant faces.
But the evening has come.
Come now, let’s go instead
To the avenue of acacias
And I will hold your hand.
Let us not mind the jealous wood nymphs.
For sure they will stare at our beauty,
The beauty of two people
Who only have today.
